The
contemporary art of glass window
painting has been
initiated from the old-age art of stained glass painting that comprised of
bringing smaller colored pieces of glass together. In olden times, it was a
common feature in high windows and doors, etc and can still be seen in churches
and old buildings.
In London, these days, glass window decorations are becoming a popular feature and catching up
as a hobby owing to its awesome results and easy availability of glass painting
equipment. Many companies today are launching glass painting ideas for hobbies.
The levels can differ for beginners, which is basically for the experimental
purpose for children. Glass paintings can be wall hangings, wine glasses
painting, on windows, cups, mugs, tiles, mirrors, etc. at home.
Different glass window decoration ideas:
Outlined glass window decorations
You can cut out a festival like Halloween themed shapes
from cardboard to stick onto your windows. You can use a black card or just
paint old cereal boxes with black paint. Witches hats, Bats, spiders, pumpkins
and skulls are just some of the shapes you could make. You can even print
shapes from your computer to trace around if you’re not confident making up
your own.
Abandoned house decorations
Another idea for window painting is to make it look like
visitors are coming to an old empty house. You can create creepy looking
hangings for your windows out of black or white cheesecloth with a few rips in
it. Additionally, you can create an effect with some fake spider webs. You can
create these out of light grey wool made into a web shape or cotton wool that
has been warmed for a bit on a radiator and then stretched out to form feathery
bits of a spider web.
Scary scenes
You could also create a creepy scene between the window
and your curtains. Hanging a ghost, skeleton or other weird creature from the
curtain pole will create the illusion of floating or otherwise stand some
evil-looking figures or cut-outs on the windowsill. Make a life-size printout
from a picture from a horror movie poster creepy looking child ghosts, demons or
other terrifying characters will all look real when placed up against the
inside of your window.
Cute and cheerful
If
you have small children and are expecting a lot of your trick to be very young
then you might want something a little less hair-raising. If you want to keep
your decorations on the friendlier end of the scale, then pumpkins with happy
faces on the window sill are traditional and not too scary for the little ones.
Moreover, you could also draw cute ghost faces onto white balloons or pumpkin
faces onto orange balloons and hang these from a curtain pole between the
window and curtains.
